Video: Climate Change and Hurricane Harvey

On August 25, 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Corpus Christi, Texas as a Category 4 storm, bringing devastation and an unprecedented amount of rain to parts of southeast Texas and Louisiana. Climate change didn’t cause Harvey, but it likely made the storm worse, say Chia-Ying Lee, an associate research scientist at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society and a Center for Climate and Life Fellow, and Adam Sobel, an atmospheric scientist at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and director of the Columbia Initiative on Extreme Weather and Climate.
