Peter de Menocal, director of the Center for Climate and Life, and Columbia University climate scientist Kate Marvel spoke with Alec Baldwin about what scientists really understand about the climate and how — and why there’s reason for hope.

Peter de Menocal, a climate scientist and director of the Center for Climate and Life, studies how Earth’s climate has changed in the past. Kate Marvel, a climate scientist at NASA GISS, helps figure out its future by creating the world’s most detailed and accurate computer climate models.
